Alpha

This is a drawing made in 2006 or 2007 that was painted over digitally, and updated yet again in 2024. It's actually a drawing I had lost over the years, I could not locate the PSD file for this work, but found a low res image online on one of my other sites. The character is from the Eternal Seven story.

Mixed Media Girl Painting

2007 was the year I really started experimenting with digitally painting over my traditional drawings. This is an approach I still use more than a decade later and here is one of my earliest attempts at it. This was a pencil drawing that was painted over in Photoshop.

Figure Study 2 - 2008

This is another figure study drawing done for practice in 2008, used photograph as a reference.

Drake Rider

This is an old pencil drawing from 2009, which was painted over digitally.

I touched up this artwork in 2024, mostly bringing it into focus, making some slight color adjustments. I still love the way this drawing turned out, so many years later.

Dragon Attack

Pencil sketch from 2008 which was painted over in Photoshop. It was one of my first "epic" dragon paintings. Doesn't look so hot now, but I loved it at the time.

Hellguard

This is a pencil sketch that got painted over in Photoshop, made sometime in 2008. At the time I made this it was among my better illustrations and showcased my level as an artist. When I look back at it now there are many things I would change. Maybe this just needs to be redone!

However, this drawing was a huge step up for me in may regards. First off it was inspired by the work of an artist who went on to work for Blizzard. While making this illustration I feel like I actually learned a lot, even though it didn't necessarily translate to a better artwork.

This is also one of my first images I started doing WIPs for.

Forkrul Assail - Sister Calm

This is a digital painting concept art of a member of the Forkrul Assail race of humanoid creatures described in the Malazan Empire series by Steven Erikson. It's my take on it at least. Originally this image was NSFW but it has been "cleaned up."

At the time I made this drawing I would consider it one of my more polished up character designs. Really enjoyed working on her.

Jamie Eason Figure Study

This was a digital painting made in 2007 for practice, using a photograph as a reference. Jamie Eason is a fitness model who became rather famous in the 2000s for her amazing looks and aesthetics. She's still around and looks great. I've always admired women with muscle, and this woman is aboslute perfection when it comes to appearance. Cheers!

Dryad Queen

This was a digital painting done for one of my favorite art streamers Stumpyfongo. He used to stream a lot in the midst of COVID, and I hung out there quite a bit while trying to do other stuff in the background. This specific drawing was done as part of a Lost Woods challenge, where participants had to draw characters they would find in a deep fantasy forest. I loved it!

The original concept sketch, I settled on the left one.

Terra - Final Fantasy 6 Fanart

I made this drawing in 2021 entirely in Clip Studio Paint. Final Fantasy 6 is one of my favorite games of all time. Such a classic...

Friends

This is a digital painitng done entirely in Photoshop sometime in 2021 as part of a Mermay challenge.

The actual drawing was done in black and white only, the colors were strictly done in overlays. This was an entirely new approach for me and the result worked very well. I actually didn't spend very long on this painting considering the level of detail that got painted in.

Ascendant

Digital painting done in 2013. The hero and armor were inspired by Torchlight 2 video game, fun little hack and slash. In the background is a painting of K2.

Hard to believe, this was from 2009. I remember making this drawing, I guess it was one of my better ones at the time. The girl was modeled after a photo of Kate Beckinsale. All painted in Photoshop. Here's the WIP:

Fire Mage

This is a character I designed sometime in 2009 as part of my Eternal Seven story. The drawing has been touched up multiple times since the initial sketch, to the point where I think it just needs a complete rework.

Magus

This drawing of a Mage character was done for one of the Character of the Week challanges at conceptart.org sometime in early 2010. Pencil sketch painted over in Photoshop.

Elf Girl with a Sword

This was done sometime in 2010.

The original sketch was done in Linux and The GIMP software. At the time I was looking for alternatives to Photoshop. I don't know why, but since the moment I've started using Photoshop I keep looking for alternatives, and while some software packages are promising, I always keep going back... In the end I did bring it into Photoshop to polish up, but it was a year of weird experiments and this was one of them.

The Red Mountain

This is a digital painting done in Photoshop and Procreate sometime in 2021. This came out of a brush test and practice session, I really liked it so I blew it up and went to town with it. This painting is also available as a print.

I was trying to learn to paint water with this painting, made in Photoshop, sometime in 2012.
