Hand - Fantasy Illustration

Hand - Fantasy Illustration
This is a mutated subhuman character from the Eternal Seven story.

Original drawing was made in 2007 and was one of the first illustrations I actually created entirely in Photoshop. It was always something I meant to go back to and to update and it received a new coat of paint in October 2025!

Never give up, skeleton!

Dark Unicorn Fae

Dark Unicorn Fae - Faebruary 2025
She's angry and horny at the same time, wants to stab you in the face, or the penor! Be careful, more demon than Fairy...

Pocket Dog

Hellhound
Some Hellhounds really do think they are pocket dogs. This guy likes his little duck and will fight you for it!
Hellhound Detail
This illustration was originally created for a challenge back in 2010, but as has been the theme in my art recently, I went back and polished it up in 2024.

Hellguard

Hellguard
This is a pencil sketch that got painted over in Photoshop, made sometime in 2008. At the time I made this it was among my better illustrations and showcased my level as an artist. When I look back at it now there are many things I would change. Maybe this just needs to be redone!

However, this drawing was a huge step up for me in may regards. First off it was inspired by the work of an artist who went on to work for Blizzard. While making this illustration I feel like I actually learned a lot, even though it didn't necessarily translate to a better artwork.

This is also one of my first images I started doing WIPs for.

Witchblade

I made this sometime in 2006, colored from a pencil sketch. It was wildly successful considering my lack of skills at the time, but showed what could be done with Photoshop if applied the right way.

Cthulhu

Cthulhu Illustration
This is an illustration I created mostly in 2021, though the original ball-point pen ink sketch was made about an year earlier in 2020. This particular piece was selected as a Daily Deviation on deviant art and is what I would consider my most popular artwork today in terms of how much exposure it got.
Cthulhu Detail
A detailed zoomed in shot from the final illustration.

Here's also a WIP GIF which showcases some of the stages of the artwork as it came along.

Elric and the Sad Giant

Elric and the Sad Giant
This is an illustration from 2010, done mostly in Photoshop. If you're not familiar with the hero and the story, I suggest you look into it. Highly recommended.

A Dark World

A Dark World - Illustration
This is a digital painting which was done in 2016 but then beefed up in Procreate sometime in 2018. My goal when I created this was to illustrate a fantasy landscape, with strange land shapes and a sense of mystery. The mage character is inspired by the video game Magika, and is featured in quite a few of my sketches where I like to add a figure for scale.

Ars Goetia 61 - Zagan

Zagan - Ars Goetia - King of Hell
Zagan, one of the nine Kings of Hell.

A very powerful entity who commands over thirty three legions of demons. Listed as the sixty first demon described in the Lesser Key of Solomon. He is classified as both President and King, both titles symbolic of the power and sway he has within the infernal abyss.

When summoned, Zagan often assumes the shape of a winged bull, but will transform into a man some time after being conjured. He has the power to turn water into wine, blood into wine, and back again. He also has the power to turn any metal into coins. It is said that he can impart great knowledge upon any man, and even turn a fool wise.

Karsa Orlong - The God is Not Willing

Karsa Orlong
Karsa Orlong is one of the central characters in the Malazan Empire series by author Steven Erikson. By far my favorite character who has an amazing arc through a number of the main books in the series.

I made this drawing in 2019 when news first broke of a follow-up series to the main Malazan books focused on Karsa.

Karsa Sketch
This drawing started as a ballpoint pen ink sketch that I painted over in Photoshop.

Hope

Hope
This is a ballpoint pen ink illustration I made over the last week. It represents hope.

Speaking of hope, I hope 2024 will be a better year for art. I am feeling the urge to start drawing again despite all the distractions and demands placed upon me. Cheers!

Fortune Favors the Bold

Fortune Favors the Bold

As some of you may know, I'm from Bulgaria.

It's a small country tucked away in the Balkans surrounded by Greece, Turkey, Romania and Serbia. A very pretty place, with fertile land, strategically located on trade routes between Europe and the Middle East. This region of the world has never been at peace. The country has some very bloody history as a result of frequent invasions...

This scene depicts the battle between Khan Krum and the Byzantine Emperor Nikephoros. The title of Khan in old Bulgaria is the equivalent of a king or a war-lord. The original Bulgars who conquered the land and created the coutnry were very profficient horse riders and fighters. But by the early 800s the country had been invaded and mostly subjugated by the Byzantine Empire.

For those who haven't heard the story about Nikephoros I recommend some searches on the topic. The Emperor Nikephoros had ravaged the country after an uprising, murdering children in various towns, and committed all sorts of atrocities. He got ambushed on the way back to his throne by Khan Krum who actually made a cup out of his skull after murdering him. Yup, Bulgaria was pretty hardcore back then...

This drawing was actually done for a friend who needed art for his album cover. I don't know why he requested me to draw this scene for them... but when the request came it it was obvious I would not be able to do it well, so I contacted some other artists for their work. I rarely draw horses and these ill begotten animals have entirely too many joints in the legs. I also rarely draw scenes with more than a couple of characters in them so this is by far the most elaborate scene I've ever attempted in my art. I decided to give it a shot and this is it... I spent a lot of time on it, it's not very good, but I did learn some things in the process. May we all drink from cups made from the skulls of our enemies!

Dragon Mother

Dragon Mother
This one took entirely too long... It was not my intention to draw all these scales when I started.

The design and pose of this dragon was inspired by Black Dragon drawing by Sandara.

Dragon Flight

Dragon Flight
Dragons, nasty creatures, but necessary in war.

Most of the time they want nothing to do with humans, and will unceremoniously murder any in sight. Dragon riders must always stay vigilant, else they might just become the victims.

That being said, some dragon riders, if they survive long enough, end up developing symbiotic relationships with their mounts. Especially in times of war. You see, dragons love war. If you lead them into war, they relish in it. If you feed their thirst for death and destruction, they will come to respect you, and listen to you... and that goad you carry, will no longer be used to smack them into submission, but to simply point them to the next target.

This is a digital painting made in 2018 mostly Procreate and finished in Photoshop.

Carrier Demon - Digital Painting from 2007

Carrier Demon v2007
I started developing the Carrier Demon concept sometime in the 90s when trying to envision the different classes of demons thriving in the chaos of the inferno.

Carrier Demons are the torturers of whores and prostitutes in Hell. Their standing in the hierarchy of Hell is rather low, they are merely a step above regular devils and demon grunts. But Carrier Demons are physically very powerful, more intimidating in stature, and as common amongst all true demons, immune to the fire element despite their ability to manifest in the flesh.

Victims of Carriers get strapped to the demon's spike covered back in a prone pose, unable to move. The spikes of the demons have incredible regenerative and healing properties. Despite the pain inflicted upon the victim during the strapdown process, the spikes ensure the victim retains some fragment of sanity. Once the strapdown is complete, the Carriers go about their business in Hell, and their victims get raped, eviscerated, shredded, only to heal up to experience a new form of torture. This goes on until the victim's very soul gives up over time on the eternal scale, and is consumed by the demon...

This was a pencil sketch which was painted over in Photoshop, made around 2006, 2007 timeframe. This is also one of my first full digital illustrations. I have never been good in terms of backgrounds and no painting symbolizes this more than this one. When I was working on it I sought critique and help on the conceptart.org forums and got some really useful advice that was way beyond my ability to implement at the time. I've continued refining this concept over the years and have drawn a few more Carrier Demons since, but none with victims strapped on.
