Fashion Souls

I played Dark Souls 3 PVP quite a bit, I got into it during the Rona Lockdowns and invasions appealed to me very much.  There's a running joke in these games that armor doesn't matter (actually not true), and that you should always go for what looks good (actually kind of true)...

Just before Elden Ring came out I made a NG+ character at SL150 intended for TRC dry-fingered assaults.  The initial build was pure strength, but I ended up switching it around to be mostly focused on Demon Greataxe and was truly a dark/chaos build with options for pyromancies and quite a few weapon swap options... but what appealed to me most was the look of this character, here are the mandatory items:

  1. Sunset Helm - the crooked helm worn by Hodrick
  2. Harald Legion Armor
  3. Harald Legion Leggings
  4. Gauntlets were whatever you could fit, but I also went with Sunset here.
The initial look of the character was intended to be funny.  The real funny was how good this armor combo is in terms of absorption and actual looks.  I know it's in the eyes of the beholder, but this was my ultimate fashion souls char.

Dragon Fire Sketch

This is a pencil sketch from 2013 that I intended to paint over but never went back to it. I really do like this dragon and the pose, so maybe one day...

Aptorian and Kalam

The Aptorian demon is a creature from the Shadow Realm described in the Malazan Empire series of books by Steven Erikson. It is a three legged demon, with a massive fasceted eye, and this is my take on it. Kalam is also a central character that features in many of the books, and notably has a story arc with the Aptorian demon. This is a tiny pencil sketch, when I say tiny, it's about 2 inches across, which I made in the margin of a notebook sometime in 2013.

Lok Tar Ogar

It's an orc from Warcraft video game. This is one of my first fully digital concept sketches. It was made in 2008 with Photoshop and experimenting with some brushes. It was later touched up in 2019.

Long Tail

A long tail can really be useful at times, and problematic at others. You can step on it, even trip on it! But hey, you know what they say? It's the motion of the ocean!
Ink sketch, colored in Photoshop.

Tree Spirit

This is an ink sketch from 2020, slightly modified in Photoshop. 2020 was a bad year for me when it came to art. This is actually the only sketch that I saved on my machine from that year that was even worth showing.

Dragons - Ink Sketches from 2019

Here are a couple of sketches I made in the year of our Lord, 2019.
This one is a baby dragon on top of an egg that hasn't hatched yet. This sketch would serve as a basis for a digital painint I made a couple of years later.
Dive bomb! Dragons are never far from my mind. I grew up roaming the hills looking for lizardss and snakes. I love scaled things that are cool to the touch! Do you feel the same way?

Scaled Hounds - Sketch from February 2019

One of my favorite things to do during meetings is to draw. Sometimes people think I'm not listening, but I can breathe and chew bubble gum at the same time too!

Beholder - Sketch 2023

The obligatory Beholder sketch, made in October 2023.
Ballpoint pen ink art.

New Sketchies

I've been busy lately working on a major drawing.  Something much more complicated than anything I've ever done before.

Meanwhile, here's a new set of ink sketches, I'm considering painting over the middle one.

The character on the right was inspired from some random drawing I encountered online. Ballpoint pen ink, made in 2018.

Ink Sketches - September 2016

I made the following ink sketches in the margin of my pages during "meetings" at work.

Here's my take on One Eye from the Black Company:

Here's a dragon sketch:

The return of the Pantiless Assassins 2018

The theme featuring assassin girls who like going commando is one of my favorite ones.

Here is the WIP:

This is a digital painting made on the iPad in Procreate, early 2018.
