Soul Catcher - Black Company

This is a drawing depicting my take on Soul Catcher, one of the iconic characters in the Black Company series of fantasy books by Glen Cook. This character starts out as a mystery, and as you progress through the book you find out more about them. The reveal comes very late in the books and it's a bit of a shocker. Along with being one of the Taken, one of the terrifying powers Catcher has is the ability to mimic anyone's voice and tends to use this power constantly.

I love the Black Company series, the characters, the way they all seem flawed, the way the story is told from the perspective of the weak, the journeys the company goes through, the triumphs and tragedies... I highly recommend it. This series has served as an inspiration for art and writing on my end. It really is one of the best and has a very satisfying ending.

This is a ballpoint pen ink sketch made in 2024. The drawing is tiny, about 4 inches across. I intend to either paint over or redo this at some point in more detail sometime in the future....
