King of Men

Digital painting made during Hurricane Ike exile in 2008.

I lived in Houston at the time and decided to ride it out on the North side of town with some friends. The storm was intense but I've been through worse before and after. The giant pine trees that crashed down and sliced through some homes were probably the most dangerous thing at the time. I do not miss hurricanes, but now I have wildfires to contend with!

This drawing was inspired my my friend Alexander who prompted me to try drawing a big fat pig with a crown, intended to symbolize the rot in our society and how we often prop up terrible and corrupt leaders. While our political views do not agree, as is often the case with my friends, the general sentiment is something we can all get behind. Our leaders suck, they are all compromised, as more time passes it becomes more an more obvious that the system in the United States is not working for the regular people. A few years later we truly would get our big fat golden pig on the Throne, to make us all great again! Anyways, this can turn into a long essay, lets just end it here...

Cyborg Marine Pencil Drawing 2009

I've always sucked at drawing elaborate armors and clothes, over the years I've improved on that, but this was one of my first successful examples. Pencil drawing done in 2009.

Tree Dragon

Done sometime in 2009, as part of a COW #154 (Creature of the Week) challenge on conceptart.org with the prompt of "Hanging Upside Down." This was all painted in Photoshop.

Beholder Drawings 2009

This was the year in which I went back to an old concept regarding Beholders, having these really bright burning central eyes. The drawing above was done for COW #156 (Creature of the Week) prompt on conceptart.org with the prompt "Red Hot Doom." Below are a couple of sketches with the same theme.

Black Tooth Cave Dweller

This was done sometime in 2009 as a COW (Creature of the Week) #154 over at conceptart.org withg the "Hanging Upside Down" prompt. The idea is that this little cutie hangs in caves, waiting for guests to arrive.
