This is a character I designed sometime in 2010, my recent search through my old files uncovered it and I decided to refine it. I don't normally work with lineart, I prefer shapes and to work with shadows, so this is different from the drawings I typically crank out. In the end I couldn't resist and put some suggestion of shading onto this drawing.
I've ran into a moral dillema recently when it comes to these drawings and where to put them on the page. Their origin is way in the past, but what I am doing with them now I did not used to have the skill to do in the past, so I am going to put them down as current work if I do drastic refinements over them such as this one.
Here's the WIP. What I had was the old sketch done in pencil, I cleaned it up refined it on a separate layer in Photoshop. About an hour of work went into this process, which doesn't include the original art but as you can see that was just a quick unfinished sketch. I have no idea if references were used for the original sketch as I don't even remember making that drawing, but I know it's mine because my notes were on the same page... Thanks for visiting!
